In your WordPress admin, go to **Plugins Add New**, search for “PolyBright Quick Restore”, and click **Install Now**, then **Activate**. (Or upload the plugin ZIP under **Plugins Add New Upload Plugin**.) 2. Go to **Quick Restore Export** and click to create your first backup. 3. To restore, go to **Quick Restore Restore**, upload or choose a backup, and confirm. To move a site to a new location, install WordPress at the destination first, then install PolyBright Quick Restore there and restore your backup. ## FAQ ### Is there a size limit on backup or restore? Backups have no size limit. The free edition restores backups up to 512MB — the same limit as All-in-One WP Migration’s free version. To restore larger backups, install Quick Restore Unlimited from polybrightlabs.com: a one-time purchase with no subscription. Chunked upload works regardless of size, so your host’s upload limit is never the problem. ### My host only allows 32MB uploads. Can I still restore a large backup? Yes. The plugin uploads your backup in small chunks and reassembles it on the server, so your host’s upload limit does not apply. ### Does restoring overwrite my current site? Yes. Restoring replaces the current site’s database, media, plugins and themes with the contents of the backup. The plugin asks you to confirm before making any changes, so always keep a separate backup of the destination before restoring onto a live site. ### Can I restore a backup onto a different domain? Yes. During restore the plugin rewrites the backup’s site URLs to the current site’s URL in a serialization-safe way, so a backup taken on one domain works on another. ### Can I import backups from All-in-One WP Migration? Yes. `.wpress` files can be imported and restored directly. ### If I delete the plugin, are my backups deleted? No — by default your backups are kept even if you deactivate or delete the plugin. You can choose to delete them on uninstall via a checkbox in Settings, but it is off by default. ### Where are my backups stored? Inside your site’s `wp-content` directory, in a protected folder. Restoring larger backups requires Quick Restore Unlimited (one-time purchase, no subscription) from polybrightlabs. com. * Oversized files are refused before upload begins, so no time is wasted uploading a backup that cannot be restored. * Added the wpqr_max_restore_size filter so extensions can raise or remove the restore limit. #### 2.0 * Critical fix: exports were stuck at “Archiving files… 0 done” forever. The resume position between steps was being written to a discarded copy of the state, so every step restarted from the first file and re-archived the same files endlessly. Fixed by passing state by reference. Exports now resume correctly and complete. * Progress counter now updates live during archiving instead of staying frozen. #### 1.0.12 * Critical fix: exports could freeze permanently on a single file with no error ever shown. PHP cannot detect or interrupt a blocked file read at the operating- system level (this affects some hosts where wp-content is served from network- attached storage) — no timeout mechanism in PHP can catch it. Files are now checked by size BEFORE being opened, so an oversized or problematic file is skipped with a clear reason instead of silently freezing the whole export. Default limit: 200MB per file (adjustable via the wpqr_max_single_file_size filter). * Removed a previous “fix” (stream read timeout) that could never have worked, since that mechanism only applies to network sockets, not local files. #### 1.0.11 * Critical fix: exports no longer freeze at “Archiving files… 0 done” on larger sites. The wp-content file scan now runs in its own step with a full time budget, instead of being crammed into the first request where it could hit the host’s time limit and stall before any file was archived. * Fixed: .wpress (All-in-One WP Migration) files were rejected on upload despite being advertised as supported — they are now correctly accepted for restore. #### 1.0.10 * Critical fix: exports could freeze permanently (“Archiving files… 0 done”) when a single file read stalled — most commonly on network-backed storage used by some managed WordPress hosts.
